Global Warming reference to the change in surface temperature of the Earth, which results in climatic change. This has been happening ever since man started interfering with environment.
Human wants have been increasing with the increase in population exploitation of the environment continues to be a major threat. Large-scale development of industries and transport have contributed to pollution. The largest human influence has been the emission of green house gases such as CO2, methane, nitrous oxide, etc, through major industrialization, CO2 being the main couse of depleting Ozone layer. The global surface temperature is likely to raise from 2.6 to 4.8°C, which will differ from region to region.
The adverse effects of global warming are:
1) Raise in sea levels due to rapid melting of ice(glaciers).
2) Change in rainfall pattern
3) Expansion of deserts
4) Extreme weather conditions like heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfall with floods and heavy snowfall.
5) Extinction of species due to shifting temperature regimes
6) Threat to flood security from decreasing crop yield.
The United Nations Framework Convention on climate change is aiming at reducing deep cut emissions. Public reactions to global warming and concern about it's effects are also increasing. So, let us do our bit by creating awareness and work hard towards a better tomorrow.
